Happy New Year and Away We Go
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND AWAY WE GO…
New Products, New Tools and New Markets – 2004
Part One – Accident Insurance coverages for people traveling or working in high-risk areas.
New Markets in 2004 includes the insuring of hundreds of thousands of men and women who are involved in the rebuilding of Iraq and Afghanistan. These non-military people have experience and training adequate to the task. They have security clearance, are willing to take the risk of working in the war zones for the opportunity for great pay, tax breaks and a rare experience in life.
These people are being insured, usually at the expense of their employer. Without adequate insurance protection these workers are prevented from exploiting this unusual opportunity.
The prospecting for this special risk business is to seek out firms that are chosen contractors to the U. S. Department of State. These contractors are in search of the insurance demanded before they can send people to those parts of the world.
We were asked to develop a series of Coverages for this special use that would include War and Terrorism insurance. The firms that have already used the plans have been very satisfied with the qualify and the prices for the Coverage, but they are extremely pleased with the simplified administration and payment modes developed for their administrative convenience.
There is no underwriting required and no applications to complete. A roster of names, birthdates, arrival date in a specific country and a departure date from the stipulated country is all that is needed.
A deposit to the premium account is made. A daily premium is assessed. Premiums are charged against the deposit. When the deposit gets insufficient, supplemental deposits are requested.
Individually the rates are modest, but the number of insureds builds substantial premiums and substantial commissions. There are no delivery requirements. It is a smooth and profitable case for producers.
