80% Participation on Employer Paid Plans
The effects of the tax bite on disability insurance benefits when the premiums are paid for by
the employer is significant. With this in mind, Petersen International Underwriters recently
increased the maximum participation limit of 75% for employer paid plans to 80%. Although this
is only a 5% increase, it can be very meaningful to a person when they are on a disability
claim. After attending the International DI Society conference held this year in Denver, CO,
further evidence was provided that in the event of a serious disability, there is never enough
money for those affected.

New and Improved Disability Policy Wording
Introduced earlier this year and with over a dozen enhancements, the reception of our newly redesigned
disability plan has been nothing short of tremendous. The wording and the salability of

10-Year Benefit Period
Petersen International Underwriters is the only Lloyd’s Coverholder to offer their high-limit
disability plans with a 10-year benefit period. This provision is for personal income protection
uses as well as business disability uses, with the same high issue-limits available.
The new 10-year benefit period option is reason enough to review your current clients’ disability
estate plans.
Online DI Application
The PIU e-app is accessible to contracted producers through the firm’s exclusive Producer Zone
website. From the site, producers may forward the e-app to clients or embed it into their own
website. Consumers are able to complete, sign and submit the e-app from anywhere in the
world where an internet connection is available.
